Bride to Wife: 7 Questions

Since I have been planning my wedding, some of the best advice I have received has been from women who have already went through the whole wedding planning process. They could give me advice on everything from planning to pitfalls–and also offer advice on how to keep it all in perspective…To that end, I created a list of 7 questions that I forwarded to some of my married friends, some who have been married from a couple of years, some, a bunch more than that! Here are the questions:

  • How long have you been married?
  • What kind of wedding did you have? (Formal, informal, destination, etc)
  • What did you like best about your wedding? (planning, actual day, etc)
  • What did you like least about your wedding? (planning, actual day, etc.)
  • If you could do it all over again, what would you do the same?
  • If you could do it all over again, what would you change?
  • Any insight, advice or tips you would like to share with other brides who are planning their wedding?

And the responses I have received have been amazing…and, as a 6 part series, I am going post the answers to each question.

Since the 1st 2 questions are pretty matter of fact, I will share them here: I present the panel of gracious veteran brides:

D: 17+ years; had a formal, small, Catholic Church wedding, with her reception at the Woodlands, including cocktails in their grove

Eve: 24 years; had a formal church wedding

D’Lynn: 9 years; had a formal church and informal civil wedding

Jen: 2 1/2 years; had somewhere between formal and informal wedding with outdoor reception

Dawn: 11 1/2 years; had a small, semi-traditional wedding (70-80 family members & close friends)

Katie: 5 years; had a semi-formal, outdoor wedding on an estate in Tarrytown NY.

Kelly: 10 1/2 Years; Our wedding was formal and pretty traditional, though not stuffy. Sincen either of us are particularly religious, but my husband’s side of the family is, we compromised on the service. We weren’t comfortable with a church service, but to accommodate his family’s values, we had our wedding at Kings College Chapel with no mass. My husband is a graduate of Kings, so it was special to him and it made everyone happy. The reception was attended by lots of family and friends, and was a ton of fun!

Anything to add? Please, by all means leave me a comment…
