Photography: An Interview with Shane East
I recently interviewed a good friend of mine who happens to be one of the best wedding photographers in our area, Shane East from Shane East Wedding Photography
Although Shane was probably born a photographer, he has been a professional photographer for 15 years, and has been shooting weddings for 5 years. Shane grew up in Chambersburg PA before going to Skidmore College in upstate New York to study fine arts. After interning in NYC to learn fashion photography, Shane moved to San Diego where he did commercial and wedding photography for 10 years. After attending a wedding in Northeast PA, wife Lisa decided she wanted to move “homeâ€. Shane loved the area: great people, activities and business opportunities.
So what sets Shane East apart from the rest?
Shane is a very artistic individual. His artistic, photojournalistic style is portrayed in his photography. Shane is caring, nurturing and inquisitive which he puts into his love of photography. His passion is telling each couples day by being sensitive to the tone of the wedding. East uses digital cameras which allow him to take more risks. Digital also allows him to take approximately 2000 pictures so that each bride receives the best photos of her day.
So what should brides look for when choosing their wedding photographer?
First, look for matching styles.
Are you looking for traditional pictures and album like your parents?
Or are you looking for a photojournalistic style, non-posed candid shots?
I asked Shane his definition of photojournalistic: “The translation of your day into art. Capturing and creating beautiful photography without interrupting the natural flow of their wedding day”
Second, look for matching personalities.
Look for a photographer that you feel comfortable with. You will be spending your whole day with this person. Most likely they will be at your home when you and your girls are getting ready all the way up until that last dance.
What makes a good photographer?
When asked what makes a good photographer Shane replied “Understanding the brides vision and having the ability and tools to deliver it. Having an artistic soul”
So, if you want to know more, want to see some of Shane’s photography or set up a meeting with Shane East, here is how you can reach Shane:
