The Real Bride: More Registry Tips

With my bridal shower less than a week away, I have some more advice with regard to registering–Make sure you don’t do it all online, or, make sure you have a good mix of things that can be purchased in the stores, as well as online.

Of the 3 I have, I set all of them up online, and did most of my choosing there as well. The honeymoon registry, obviously, there is no other option, but with the other 2 I have, Macy’s and Target, only in Macy’s did I actually actually go to the store and scan things. And my fiancé and I only did that once. It seems, though, that more of the stuff on my registry at Macy’s is also available at the store.

Unfortunately, about 80% of the items I wanted from Target are only available online. Which would be fine, if more people shopped online, and more people planned ahead. We are all guilty of it–we get the invite to the shower a month before–we RSVP, and then remember the Thursday or Friday before the shower: “Oh! I forgot to get a gift for that shower on Sunday!” So you go to the store, because at this point, it’s too late to order anything online. And your choices are limited because everyone else thought ahead and purchased all the good/reasonable/affordable stuff that is available from the store, while the tons of stuff that is available online only cannot be purchased because there is no time.

So you end up getting a gift card, or trying to find one of the items available only online elsewhere…

But one good thing about what happened to me–it increases the chances we’ll get the luggage (available in store) that my finance reallyREALLY wants…

And I will let you know how my shower goes…I have been to so many, and always considered them a necessary evil. But the thought of a party to celebrate MY wedding–I am very excited–and a little nervous…

Any registry tips or experiences you would like to share? I would love to hear them!
