Etiquette: Tipping

Posted by Jennifer Casey at 9:03 am in Etiquette, Vendors | No Comments

I was recently chatting with some fellow wedding vendors, one of which mentioned tipping. It was brought to my attention that “some” brides are unaware of tipping etiquette. Read more…

Bride to Wife: 7 Questions

Posted by Christine E. at 9:30 pm in Advice, Insight, The Real Bride | No Comments

Since I have been planning my wedding, some of the best advice I have received has been from women who have already went through the whole wedding planning process. They could give me advice on everything from planning to pitfalls–and also offer advice on how to keep it all in perspective…To that end, I created a list of 7 questions that I forwarded to some of my married friends, some who have been married from a couple of years, some, a bunch more than that! Here are the questions:

Paper Trend - Go Custom!

Posted by Kristy Rice at 3:14 pm in Invitations | No Comments

You get engaged, revel in the excitement for about a day and then panic sets in! You realize quickly that there is that list of vendors you need to book fast before you and your wedding date are left in the dust. A photographer has only one slot to fill for each weekend day and the same goes for your caterer, DJ or band and of course your wedding planner. The last thing on your mind is invitations - you think to yourself “I can get those last minute…I think my friend ordered from a catalog.”

The Real Bride: RSVP Services: Saving a Ton of Time

Posted by Christine E. at 6:09 pm in Invitations, Planning, The Real Bride | Comment (1)

I have been hearing the horror stories about how you send your invitations out with an RSVP date of 3-4 weeks later, so you can get your final count to your caterer on-time. 4 weeks later, Only about 1/2 of your invitations have been responded to. So, 2 weeks before your wedding, you are making phone calls to all of the people who have not responded–and normally, you have to leave a couple of messages until they finally get back to you, and, if you have folks coming from far away, you have to deal with the long distance changes. And it’s not like you don’t have anything else to do at this time… Read more…

The Real Bride: Wedding Favors–What is out there?

Posted by Christine E. at 3:43 am in Personal Touch, Planning, The Real Bride | No Comments

When my fiance’ and I were discussing wedding favors, we threw out a TON of different ideas: The little tiny picture frames (I have 6 of them at home in a drawer, none of them have any pictures in them) or bubbles (not really “enough” of a favor) Wedding Scrolls (same thing) Candles (gets expensive if you get anything but the littlest candles) Wine (fairly expensive, and what do you get for the under-aged, non-drinking, or recovering guest?) 6 Jordan almonds, wrapped in netting (way too 1976). We both agreed that we wanted something meaningful, that people would not just throw in a drawer

So I decided to start looking online to see what was out there…WOW..When you type in “Wedding Favors” at Ask, you get 3,950,000 hits. And every one of them is chock full of favor ideas, for all types of weddings (beach and cowboy themes) and all types of styles (casual to ultra formal) and all budgets (from 50 cents to $50.00 a person). Here are 5 of the best: Read more…

The Real Bride: Dealing with Wedding Vendors

Posted by Christine E. at 5:42 pm in Planning, The Real Bride, Vendors | No Comments

One of the most amazing things we have encountered while planning our wedding is the way perspective brides and grooms are treated. When I began my reading, some the books mentioned that some vendors maybe less than pleasant, and I was very skeptical. But in our quest for our wedding, we have actually spoken to vendors who have acted like they are doing you a favor talking to you.
